Sure, some men have crept onto women's catwalks before - Burberry and Chanel's Spring shows spring to mind - but watching Lily's slounchy slink was different and somehow unsettling. Style critic Tim Blanks says this: "[Gaultier has] always understood that ambiguity can be an asset, in the same way that assumptions are a liability. Look at what hairdresser George got away with simply because the husbands of his lovers assumed he must be gay."
