At A Gloss

Jan 26, 2007 @ 2:20pm

gloss1.JPGYou know those Home Depot commercials, where the kid brings in a leaf and the HD staff mixes a paint color to match? A makeup artist named Giella claims to do the same thing, but with lip gloss (and foundation, and eyeshadow...).

Ever the skeptic, we went to Henri Bendel for a test drive. Here's what happened...

Giella: Hi, I'm Giella.

Fashionista: Hi, Giella. What's your last name?

Giella: Don't worry about that.

Fashionista: Oh, I get it. You were named in the mid-'80s, like Cher. I heard you can make lip gloss?

Giella: Yes, what color would you like?

Fashionista: I want it the same color as my pink and purple My Little Pony. And I want it to shine a little bit, too, like her plastic hair.

Giella: Really?

Fashionista: Yes. Mattel is the most underrated style icon in the world.

[two minutes later]

Giella: Here's your gloss.

Fashionista: Oh. My. Gosh. It's perfect. It's like liquid Ponyland. You're a genius.

Giella: Just a makeup artist.

Fashionista: No really. Now I understand why you have no last name. This. Is. Amazing.

If you want your own Fashionista gloss, you can go to Henri Bendel, or Giella.com. If you want little butterflies all over your photos, you can go to Flip and get as addicted as I am.

Um, My Little Pony is Hasbro, not Mattel. Mattel is Barbie, and a rather over-rated style icon, I must say.
