Panic! At the Proenza

Jan 31, 2007 @ 10:56am

proenza1.jpgNo doubt you've heard the rumors - Proenza Schouler's Target line is already available on the internet, and all it takes is some savvy clicking to find it...

Well, Fashionista's done some investigating, and here's the real deal:

For about four hours yesterday, the Proenza line was available on the Internet, thanks to a handy loop in the web called "Shop Local," where you can place orders at a specific Target store instead of their national database. Once Target realized that thousands of shoppers were already buying Proenza, they pulled the entire line from the web, and it remains hidden until Thursday, when it will be properly sold on Target.com.

The truly crazed can go to eBay, where some sneaky (unethical? gross?) shoppers are already reselling their ordered goods. Or you can camp out in front of Opening Ceremony in New York City, where the line debuts this Friday morning.

Until then, if you're really itching to buy some designer Target, here are your options: shop the Behnaz Sarafpour clearance sale on the national website now... or go here and take your chances...

Er, it wasn't just yesterday; you could pre-shop weeks ago, as I pointed out in the linked post...

You can also go to the Target.com site and just search 'Proenza'.

Definetely ordered some stuff early via the Froogle/Shoplocal links last week, and while the bustier dress (which is the main thing on sale on eBay, by the way) fits perfectly (definetely size up for the chest and cinch with a good belt at the waist--little to no billowing effect ensues), the bustier top was just a wee bit too small, but only in the chest area. According to the bees buzzing on FashionSpot, though, Target separates its online/mail order stock from its stoe stock, so don't despair just yet...

I had read on one or two sites that the Proenza Schouler for Target line was going to hit the racks on February 1st. I went to the store at Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn around 2:30pm (2/1/07) and the collection was available although, not if full force. It didn't look like the racks had been ransacked. Two were empty but the remaining items were pretty well stocked. There were a few items there that I hadn't seen previously online and they were better than what I had seen. I bought the 3/4 sleeve coat in the stripe pattern (which wasn't online)and a skirt that I also hadn't seen online. I'm not sure why they didn't wait until after the hysteria happens at Opening Ceremony but ladies, HEAD OVER TO THE ATLANTIC TERMINAL TARGET!
