Backstage at Proenza Schouler, Coco Rocha fielded video cameras, Agyness Deyn ordered espresso, and one girl haunted Milk Studios even though she wasn't there: Ashley Olsen.
It wasn't just the clothes, which Jack continues to explain are "for girls that don't try too hard" - though really, anyone who can pronounce or spell Proenza Schouler does make some sort of effort. Instead, the Olsen vibe was strongest in makeup room, where Freja's lids were dusted with powder and smeared with clear Vaseline, and everyone's hair feathered messy and straight, and fell in their eyes. And of course the pucked lips, stained a dirty, deep red and squirted with clear gloss.
We loved the look. We wanted the look. But we did wonder if it would work without the lifestyle, without the attitude, and without the special It Girl something that negates a bright red lip and tells the world you're not trying too hard at all.
