Jack. Lazaro. Bulls Eye.

“You should blog about this,” instructed Nicole Phelps, the fashion editor of Style.com. She was crammed in line at Opening Ceremony, the only place in Manhattan to sell Target’s Proenza Schouler collection, and she was not alone. Ahead of her was ELLE fashion editor Joann Paley; behind her was FLIP editor Holly Siegel.

And then there was Fashionista, who strategically combed the store for our favorite pieces - the Greyhound Sweatshirt; the palm print dress - and our favorite photos. Click below to see our Proenza Schouler adventure, starring 112 fashion editors, $286.63 on our credit card, 23 minutes on the checkout line, and Jack and Lazaro, too…

The store opened at 5 pm. This was the line at 4:40… can you spot the Conde Nast executive patiently waiting her turn?

proenza 5.jpg

5:15 pm: Mass panic on the store floor as forty boustier dresses are brought out to the editors. The other favorite are the slouchy short sleeved tee shirts in juicy jewel tones - every single woman in line has at least one.

5:45 pm: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, a.k.a. Proenza Schouler, arrive at the store for interviews. They are promptly swarmed by camera crews; meanwhile their biggest fans - the fashion editors - are so absorbed in their shopping missions, most brush right by them.

7 pm: Back home in the East Village, and this swing coat- an unexpected purchase we grabbed while in line - is the undisputed favorite find. It cost $44.99, but come spring, it will be invaluable.

Uggh. I went to 3 Targets today looking for this stuff and got in a fight with the manager at the third one because they didn't have it. Apparently they don't get anything til Sunday. Even though the signage all says the 1st. Whatever, Target. Whatever.

Unfortunately, that's usually the case for these mass merchandisers--they won't pull anything out until the ad comes out on Sunday...but that doesn't excuse them from all of this conflicting information as to the release dates...

Can anyone comment on fit? Are things running small, true to size? Typically, the capsule collections have been running large, but something tells me that these are running small.

I've already checked out the store and Opening Ceremony and here's what I've learned. The line is available in stores now. I went to the Brooklyn Target yesterday and a lot of stuff was already cleared out. I'm not sure why other stores are saying they don't have the line b/c it was supposed to launch in Target stores on the 1st. The line launches online on the 4th. If you want to shop online and don't want to wait 2 more days there is already some stuff available on Amazon.com. Opening Ceremony is totally crazy and by 1030 this morning most of the super cute stuff was sold out except for L or XL. I think most of the stuff is running slightly small. I'm usually a 4 and I have been getting either sz 5 or Small. Hope this info helps everyone!

As mentioned before, a lot of stuff is on amazon (I searched "proenza target" and went right to it, I think there's around 75 items). In the details for the shirts, there is a not stating that the sizes are designer sizes and are running small, to answer that question.

I'm only seeing three items on target.com: a cardigan and two pairs of bermuda shorts -- what's up with that?

update!

just went to my target (in Boston) and tried on a bunch of stuff to get a size comparison, because they had a bad selection.

the pants are about one size bigger than normal (i'm an 8 and i took an 11) and the tops seem true to size. i'm big busted so i had to take larges or mediums in everything but the XL was HUGE on me!

hope that helps!
(oh and i can't speak for the bustier tops.. they didn't have them, i've been reading they run small.)

The bustier tops and dresses do run on the small side, but only in the chest area (I'm usually a S and the zipper would not go up once it hit my ribcage, and the cups did not, ahem, provide adequate coverage)--both are a little blousy on the bottom. A good belt helped define the waist on the dress for me (and it looked really good), but it may be a little harder to do so for the top due to the shiny silk.

kids, this is why you need to live in California. Went to my local Target this morning, they had the entire line with all the sizes available. Bought this adorable black knit dress, lined, for $29 -- perfect for rolling up and throwing in a suitcase. Also bought a skirt and top. The line is adorable and priced to move. It will be gone by the weekend. I don't think consumers outside of major markets will understand it so call Targets in remote places to get sizes that you can't find.

Ladies, call ahead. Some Targets did receive the PS line on Jan 31st and a few items did hit the floor. The pieces are very good quality. The sizes do run a bit small but I attribute that to the tailored look PS is aiming for. I'll still waiting for the silk kimono blue dress and the piped bustiers to be shipped though!

I looove being in the fashion backwater Pacific NW... went to a suburban Target this morning and had the section to myself. Tops and dresses seem to be running true to size, but pants are definitely running a little small. Bump one size up for a good fit - I'm usually a 6/7 but had to take a 9 in the pants. They didn't have any of the "springy" dresses that were shown before - any idea when the next round is coming out?
