Today marks the official launch of IQONS, a website designed as a “Fashion MySpace.” Along with info about themselves, members can upload their portfolios onto the site, so clothing designers, art directors, photographers, models, stylists, and even writers can showcase their stuff to their peers.
IQONS also comes with some virtual mentors, called Iqonographers. Each month, the Iqonographer will click through the site and choose some members to critique, advise, and maybe even hire. In March, the Iqonographer is Vivienne Westwood. In April, it’s Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz. And in May, everyone’s going to have a virtual heart attack, because it’s John Galliano surfing the site for new talent.
Still, the cyber world is still quite fickle, and whether IQON replaces MySpace for fashion kids remains to be seen – as does the quality of actual talent on its pages. To explore it yourself, click here to join the clique, and then become our friend – obviously, it’s mandatory that you report any contact with Galliano, even the virtual kind…
