Suzy Menkes and the International Herald Tribune recently paid tribute to Colette, the French boutique that's managed to become, arguably, the coolest store in the world. How? It was one of the first stores ever to mix high and low items, and still offers a $5000 Lanvin dress and a $5 mix CD within mere feet of each other. It's also a great champion of new designers - Proenza, Zac, and Christopher Kane all took off at Colette. Suzy explains "the [store] policy is simple: Always be new, fresh, surprising - and streets ahead of the rest." Maybe that's why Colette's latest import is a tee from Mark the Cobra Snake, the scenester photographer who's pictured at left with Colette owner Sarah Lerfel. In the photo, Mark wears the shirt for sale. Meanwhile, we think how his doodle has now been seen by Colette's most regular shopper, Karl Lagerfeld. C'est formidable!
