Angelina Jolie was the brief face of St. John, but she’s since escaped their suburban clutches and is now a free agent in the fashion world.
It’s just as well - knitwear for Aspen vacation moms wasn’t exactly her thing, and we all remember the Golden Globes gossip: St. John made Angelina a dress. Angelina hated it, sent it back to St. John. Repeat five times fast.
But apparently, some designers are willing to risk that wrath to dress Brad’s girl - today’s show for Alvin Valley at Los Angeles Fashion Week is inspired by and created specifically for the actress, inspired by aviation style and the pilot Harriet Quimby, who was one of the first women to command a plane.
As for the collection, don’t expect any gauzy gowns like Angelina wore last year - as Alvin told Mark Malkin, “I’d just love to style her completely, because I feel like her style is kind of all over. I think she should stick more with sexy suits and pants. I think she’s sexier wearing that than a dress.”
Will Angelina pay attention? Maybe - if Alvin donates half his proceeds to a humanitarian charity.
