Harvey Weinstein is the new owner of Halston, and he’s already mentioned making a documentary of the American legend’s life.
That would be great, but how much more fun would a biopic be? Then you could resurrect vintage Halston costumes, have Tamara Mellon – Halston’s new creative director – be the costume designer, rope Gwyneth into it somehow, and voila, an Oscar contender is born.
Our preliminary cast list…
Halston = Kevin Spacey
Bianca Jagger = Rosario Dawson
Anita Pallenberg = Sienna Miller
Naeem Khan (whose very first job was as Halston’s assistant) = Sendhil Ramamurthy, the gorgeous actor from Heroes
And a side note: Harvey Weinstein produced the ’90s ode to the ’70s, 54, with Neve Campbell and Ryan Phillipe. He can re-shoot on that movie’s excellent set, but this time with a better script.

There have been reports of a Halston bio in the works on and off for over ten years. Killer Films had a script going around and at one point Alec Baldwin (!)was in the running. Personally, I think Richard E Grant is the only actor who could do Halston’s long lean frame justice.
