Yesterday, Gawker ran a photo of Lynn Yaeger, the fashion editor of the Village Voice and frequent Vogue contributor. Lynn’s style is absolutely eccentric, and some might even call it mad. She’s the American version of Anna Piaggi, easy to pick out in a crowd because of her deliberately dizzy wardrobe tactics.
Naturally, the Gawker crowd swiped the site with sharp comments.
Then this afternoon, something not so natural happened: Gawker banned all commentators who said mean Lynn things from posting on their site.
We were slightly shocked at the swift fashion justice, but Lynn is a living legend – even John Galliano paid her a few unconscious odes during his recent Paris show.

I’ve always thought that Lynn looked exactly like a flapper era garter button come to life. (These were silk buttons with little painted faces used to adorn garters that were worn below the knee – quite racy at the time. You can see some at ebay if you search with ‘vintage garter button’.) What is it with people who need to say mean things about people who display the slightest amount of unconventionality. Viva Lynn!
