We’re glad first reports of Sarah Jessica Parker’s clothing line were a little off – specifically, the part where “insiders” compared the line to the Olsen girls’ new collection, The Row.
While MK may be selling $200 t-shirts, The Daily reports that Sarah Jessica’s new line is entirely under $20, and will retail inside the Manhattan Mall (a spot usually verboten unless you’re looking for a Spice Girls costume) at discount chain Steve & Barry’s.
How good the clothes will be remains to be seen, but the marketing strategy is already brilliant. After all, this is the woman who made $600 shoes look like your favorite Sauconys from high school – will her fan base really spend more than the price of Magnolia Cupcakes on her outfits?
We’re glad Sarah Jessica realizes her mass appeal – and obviously, we can’t wait for pictures of the line, which will inevitably leak onto the internet, Kate Moss for TopShop style, sometime this month.
Stay tuned…
