The dress on the left is from Foley and Corinna. It’s several seasons old but still a huge hit – in fact, until last week, it was in the Calypso boutique window right next to our office.
Paris Hilton has worn it on late night television and looked actually adult.
Last year, when Foley and Corinna had a fashion editor party, we witnessed some fashion editors actually fight for it.
On Wednesday, I almost stole it from a stylist’s apartment, but admittedly, it looked better on her.
It retails on ShopBop for $440.
The dress on the right is from Forever 21. It sells for $40.
And you will buy….?

WOW this might be the most blatant one of all…

there’s enough of a difference in the skirt pattern that they can get away with it. Again, another really basic dress that was “knocked off”–the original was mostly likely not made with a fabric pattern created by F&C. It’s not as if F21 stole some sort of fresh, innovative idea–it’s a dress that’s been made a hundred times before in a million different fabrics.
Furthermore, it’s ugly 70′s maternity wear. That price is insulting for a bunch of scarves sewn together with some black binding.

LMAO
F21 is hilarious
and i love it.
its a sad for the designers, you put all this work into a look to have it scammed off like that… but on the other hand these designers are bold for overcharging the way they do. so, i guess all is fair in love and fashion?
whatever.

People who care about labels or quality will buy the original. People who don’t care or are too broke for the original will buy the knock-off.
As for the dress, they’re both ugly. I had a dress like that in high school and it made a 100-pound 16-year old look pregnant, so I can’t imagine what it would look like now on a normal-sized body.

no. why would you want a dress that everyone has anyhow?

i saw the Forever 21 dress on the Today show this morning! eek!

F21 also had a short version of the dress a couple months ago. A friend bought it for me back in November and I wore it on New Year’s Eve.

The dress is ugly but that’s beside the point. Of course I would buy from Forever 21. People are OUT OF THEIR MINDS if they think I’m going to pay $400 for a dang dress. Get over yourselves, fancy shmancy fashion designers. You are not worth it. A lot of people would be going around naked if their only choice was to buy $400 clothes. Get real!

The fashion designers should get some good lawyers and sue forever 21. It doesn’t matter if $400 priced clothing is real or not, that is not the issue, nor is it the issue if you would buy it or not, the issue is whether you are allowed to go ahead and copy someone else’s design because it looks nice (and don’t say it doesn’t look nice forever 21 wouldn’t have copied it if it wasn’t), the fact is that whoever copied the design should pay, Im sure they will be sued.

I’d have to agree with previous comments. I most definitely cannot afford a $400 dollar dress;that’s just ridiculous. F21 has done us broke asses a huge favor lol. There’s no doubt that if i had the money i would get original clothing, but that’s not the case, especially during this recession. Its sad for hard working designers, but i think everyone deserves to look good at an AFFORDABLE price.

pls help me i love to be a designer
i love so much this work in my life and i try also
to make same dress but i have not more education for that
