The Designer Gap shirts are almost sold out, and here’s the big shock:
Rodarte was the first to go.
It’s also the label that we bought, which we thought would never happen.
Now we wonder: If Rodarte had more limits, a technical designer, and the idea that their customer was young, broke, and between a size 6 and a size 12, would their talent be more evident?
True, their trapeze blouse could be made with a pillocase and some scallop trim, but still. There’s an elegance to it that we like, and the shape fits normal women.
Hopefully Rodarte’s mass market sweep will encourage them to keep designing for mall shoppers, instead of Princess Leia and the other Sci Fi princesses that probably steeled them through adolescence.
And with that, The Gap / CFDA Collection is officially “on break” from this blog. The End.

So they should have to water down their vision to prove that they have talent? If you want proof they can make creative AND wearable clothes, look at their F/W 06 collection.
