Marc Jacobs Gets a MySpace!

Earlier this afternoon, a bulk of fashion editors and scenesters got this MySpace message, sent from Marc Jacob's personal assistant:

"Hey everyone... Marc Jacobs just joined myspace and wants some cool friends... Add him! He's my number one friend, just click him and add him..."

We clicked, and found the first official Marc Jacobs MySpace page, where he tells us he likes...

"Yoga, Working Out, Dining With Friends, Walking Alfred &; Daisy, Going To Galleries. Collecting Art."

Marc's page plays Sonic Youth and his top friends are Samantha Ronson and Jenna Jamison. At number one is Jason Preston, the boy who famously tattooed Marc's logo across his arm, as a sign of devotion.

Guess they're back together.

Everything about this makes me like MJ just a lil' less. From the fact he used a myspace layout helper to his passe taste in music and movies to his boyfriend leaving such Highschool level comments.

mj= not really relevant anymore. why? cos he has an awful myspace and a tacky boyfriend. he is almost richie rich..but not as fun..he isnt wearing rollerskates

I miss the nerd look, too. His new tan 'LA'-fit look isn't sitting well with me. This is the man who said he likes nothing better than "a blouse that's dumb" and who wrote a letter to the New York Times complaining that he was referred to as cool. Why is he conforming to such shallow standards?

I actually HOPE this is fake. It's depressing. This page is like the antithesis to the New Yorker article about Karl Lagerfeld.

That made me have faith in the fashion insanity, there is style, substance, farce, freaks, fun, fakery...

But this myspace page for someone so "accomplished" and lauded makes me quesy.

But I hate to say I have never been a huge MJ fan, he pioneered the bring in the old as new look, which has killed creativety in fashion. What's new? The 80's! The 60's! I remember a Vogue article once in the 90's on each decade's style since the 20's, what will the 00's be? What has been pioneered now, certainly nothing as brave as the Coco Chanel little black dress or punk fashion in its orginal heyday. It makes me sad.

HELLO! Marc is a total sexy babe and obviously the most relevent American designer there is. And I agree with Annmarie - this makes me like him even more. Go Marc!
PS - his new pop-up store in Provincetown is so cute and I got the most amazing pair of colorful plastic shades for $90.
