Shoppers are still saving for The Row, but Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen announced today that they have a new clothing venture, called Elizabeth and James.

WWD reports the line was named for the younger Olsen siblings, and was created by Peter Koral and Jane Siskin, the creators of Seven For All Mankind and LaRok. Mary Kate tells Women's Wear, "We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through the clothing."

Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Intermix will carry the collection this fall. Prices start at around $80 and go up to about $600.

Also: we hear it was heavily influenced by pieces from Mary Kate's vintage collection, and includes several shiny slip dresses, some hot pants, and a pinstripe menswear vest tailored extra skinny. Sound familiar?

I think I've deduced the first few chapters of the boy & girl relationship story.

Chapter 1: Boy buys a glitter stick and makes the girl a circus tent.

Chapter 2: Boy and girl go on hunger strike.

Chapter 3: Boy has sex change operation.

This is ridiculous. How many clothing lines do two quasi-talented billionaires need? Their prices are absurd for what they're selling. It would be great to see them doing something halfway decent for humanity- I mean, they're certainly famous enough and rich enough to make some kind of difference. Draining wallets of the upper crust doesn't count as charitable.

lol, Kirstie Alley on ice.. Besides that first dress, the clothes look okay. The world needs more pockets on skirts and dresses. Too bad Mary-Kate's concept made me throw up a little.

Those models are atrocious. Especially the one in the first picture. Ugh her hair AND her expression. They are both wholly untalented (or unphotogenic). I think the clothes are generic and bland as well. I'm not impressed.
