Temperley Time…

temperley for target girls.jpg
According to the Post’s fashion brigade, the first images of Temperley for Target are up!

Our initial reaction to the line:

“Oh. Really? Okay.”

But then we realized there were some great pieces hidden among the oddly graphic jersey pieces.

We’ve culled our favorite four looks and featured them above, and while we’re still more excited for the Libertine collection, some of these pieces are incredibly forward - we were shocked that Target would gamble on those insane overalls, but also quite pleased.

The clothes do remind us of Alice Temperley’s last fashion show, when British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman told us,

“The thing is, nobody looks better in Alice Temperley’s clothes than Alice herself.”

Yep.

Target is the only reason why I love living in Minnesota...plus the fact that any student from the UofMinnesota is almost guaranteed a job at Target Corp. after graduation :)

I, too, am excited for Libertine. I'm currently scoping out the whale/skull bag...

I hope it's cute in person. The Patrick Robinson stuff is far more heinous in store than on the person. I'm terribly dissapointed. I was however able to snag a ton of the Proenza stuff (including 2 dresses) for under $10 a piece. When does the next line replace Robinson?

Libertine is too juvenile with all the skulls and screenprinting. It's like someone took the Luella collection and put a bunch of crap on it. And the striped stuff looks straight out of a carnival. This is a nice departure for the GO line--it's very ladylike and grown up without being stuffy like Behnaz was. There's some great 9-5 stuff in the collection and strong pieces you could mix with higher end clothing. I like it.

I want to take a closer look at that trapeze coat with obi belt.

At least its more exciting than the patrick robinson line. i feel kinda bad for him because it really has none of the pizazz or excitement that previous GO! collections have had.

I am very excited for the Libertine collaboration, though.

I've adored Temperley's looks on the runway and Alice has adapted her signature look for Target superbly. This may be one GO line I will actually buy(like e, I agree that Behnaz' line was v. stuffy).

Each one of the GO collections has had only 1 or 2 pieces I wanted. Hopefully these lines will only get better as Target judges them to be a success.

It seems a little too early or misplaced to feel badly for Patrick Robinson. Maybe his functional, but still whimsical, collection outsold the others, who knows. I'm sure that level of mass retail exposure will do wonders for his brand. His clothing tags alone are so unique n' Basquiat-y.

The Temperly gear looks like a mash of Comptoir des Cottoniers, Agnes B. and Joie. Without actually seeing it in the flesh, it looks like it would be at home as easily in Galleries Lafayette as Tarjhay.

FYI: the rest of the images of Alice's collection are on Target's press website. There's about 20; they look just ok, but it's hard to see the details because practically everything is black, gray or navy! Damn those teeny, tiny, advance photos.

Large, detailed pictures @ www.nitrolicious.com. I didn't like the collection until I saw those.

I really like it. It looks reasonable and wearable, and not cheap, which is most important.

Libertine for Target looks disgusting and juvenile. It screams fashion victim. This is much better.

I wouldn't wear the skulls stuff, but the rest of it is pretty exciting.

I agree with Anais about the Libertine stuff...it just looks like something Avril would wear. Nothing beats Proenza for me, but Temperley looks promising. Some of those dresses are really cute and I need the blue military jacket!!

on Libertine: embroidered bermudas? those, along with several other pieces, could have easily been made by Tommy Hilfiger. swirly-print pants for middle America? ill advised! they're supposed to be making Target customers look better, not like carnies.
the Temperley stuff is wearable, marginally sophisticated and for the most part doesn't scream I GOT THIS AT TARGET!!!
