Will America Get Kate Moss’ Leftovers?

kate at topshop.jpg
Our favorite stylist Josh went to England, Scotland, and Ireland last week, and here’s what he found in the TopShops:

The Kate Moss stuff is selling out, but only in the larger sizes.

Apparently, every item - even the coveted stuff like the blossom dress - is still available in the tiny sizes.

That leaves an interesting problem:

What are they going to do with all the small sizes that don’t sell in the UK?

The obvious answer is, put them all on clearance until they’re gone.

But we’re hearing other reports, that the smallest leftover clothes might come here to America, where Barneys can sell them more readily.

Do you think they’ll fly from our shelves?

(As background: the blossom dress has already zipped from Barneys Coop, after a record 2 days on sale. And I saw it on a normal sized girl in Tompkins Square Park; she looked like a rock star.)

i dont think we'll get too many leftovers as barneys has already consolidated all the kate moss items to only a few stores now.

it has been pulled from most of the other barneys across america.

i really didn't get this from the beggining. it's one thing to bite kate moss's style (as so many do), but just buying carbon copies of her vintage pieces that she 'designed' just seems totally cheesy. which i guess is appropriate for barney's.

I don't know where people got that idea of the big sizes, Oxford Street the flagship store, just sells and sells and sell the Kate moss stuff. And the only sizes usually left are the bigger ones. It's easy to see in the limitated collection pieces. And just go to the website an see what sizes are left. Contrary to your report some people I know are complaining about the lack of small sizes.
Anyway some pieces are really small I wouldn't be susprised lots of people went a size bigger.
I would guess the US will get the same amount of sizes as all the other Uk stores.

The Kate Moss collection is getting further and further from the "copy" pieces, it's a pity that most of the new items are only sold in Oxford Circus or on ebay at inflated prices.

I'm telling you, Opening Ceremony in LA has a room full of this line, I don't see how they're going to get rid of it all.

Commodity fetishism. Those clothes are badly made, overpriced and not very good.

I was in Barneys (on madison) yesterday and there were several of the blossom dresses on the rack, as well as some other stuff.

opening ceremony has a 20% markup on barneys, which in turn has a 20% markup on topshop uk. no wonder they have a room full of kate moss stuff.

Barneyscoop.com has many of the styles from the Kate Moss collection. These are not left overs but re-orders due to the popularity of the product.
