Would You Wear a Fanny Pack?

The Times Style section has an amusing article on an item that, embarrassingly enough, I’d been thinking about for the last few weeks: the fanny pack.
The universally mocked “bag” usually equals lame tourist, but it’s now being reinvented by some very not-lame (unlame?) designers.
Kris Van Assche (newly of Dior Homme) has a day-glow “waist pack

I actually have the Louis Vultton fanny pack not sure if I should keep it or not. The only reason I got it was because my friend had a Louis vultton party where everyone to wear something louis vultton and I wanted to be different

if you have a dog "belt bags" not those awful words "fanny pack" they are invalubale. nala goes to the park and i put all her stuff in my gucci belt bag circa 1999 and im free to chase her hands free
  • i dont just like you. i like y
i think if you are going to do a fanny pack you have to take it waaaaay back to 5th grade and do the neon thing. neon pink or yellow like Elle's friend...i vaguely recall having a bright purple one with neon green zippers.
    or
you could be very 90's Brooklyn and do a North Face pack (worn to the back..."totally crossed out"

my impeccably stylish friend has been wearing a neon yellow fanny pack for the last few months, and she totally pulls it off. they're definitely handy, 2 free arms!

when i was in budapest last summer, there were bunches of booths at concerts selling cute little diy fanny packs. should've gotten one then but i didn't think they'd be making a comeback over here.

i have lately been thinking of getting one, too. i thought it looked fab on carrie bradshaw and i don't understand what's so 'gross' about them but they certainly get a bad rap! i think part of my motivation in wanting one is just to, like, sarotirally piss people off.

There's a load of those lesportsac/tokidoki fannypacks on ebay. I don't know who wears them, but they seem popular enough.

no, no, no. there is nothing THAT important that you need to have secured around your waist. (unless its the arm of a loved one). seriously just say no. i've seen the fanny pack trying to creep back in but i'm hoping people shun it because its really ugly and does nothing for anyone's body type. not even twiggy back in the day or kate moss back in the day could pull it off!

the pt is the philip lim bag, not the LV one...philip lim, v. cute.
  • Thanks anonymous; we will send Bess to fake school before she posts again.

the LV you posted is a really bad fake, as are all on ioffer (not the same as ebay). i don't think they ever made that, it just looks like the gucci fannypack but in lv material. also, fannypacks are gross

  • American Apparel has them, if that's any indication of mainstream value.
