Last spring, Diane Von Furstenberg made a red sunburst print on a series of sundresses and jackets.
This spring, Urban Outfitters adds a few more petals to the print and voila, it’s their newest staple.
While the Diane dress sold for about $300 – and sold out, completely, within a few weeks – this Urban Outfitters piece is going for $58.
It also comes in black.
Though two more runway shows have passed since this look, I’m pretty certain that Diane and her team haven’t forgotten their previous efforts…
and also their previous prints.
And you know what happens when anyone tries to mess with DVF…

cute dress!
I almost bought it (didn’t recognize that blatant plagarism), but decided the thin white fabric with the red flowers looked slightly cheap. Ultimately bought the dress in royal blue and in black- great summer dress!
there most def is such thing as plaigarism of prints, which i am sure urban realizes. while the prints have the same feel, urban’s is more of a hawaiian flower feel than dvf’s
This is a good example of why lobbying for fashion design protection legislation in the fashion industry should continue.
the print is actually a knock off from forever 21: http://www.shopdiary.com/2007/04/09/not-a-dvf-copy/
the f21 came out last summer. the print is very close to DVF’s but not quite the same.
