Jessica Simpson may be more famous for not wearing her celebrity designs than for her actual collection - the pop star was sued by Tarrant Apparel Group for $100 million last year when she failed to promote her own line.

Now the blondie seems more invested in her fashion adventures - she’ll appear at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami for her first-ever fashion show this July.

We can’t imagine the circus that the Raleigh Hotel will become for the show, and the neon bedazzled Lycra explosion that will probably grace the runway. But something about the situation is even more interesting:

Last year, the Simpson clan was in preliminary talks with the very talented swimwear designer Red Carter, to somehow collaborate. But they realized it would make more sense to stick with their own ventures, and so the only signs of a partnership were the Jessica Simpson pumps backstage at Red’s show.

So, was Red the inspiration for Jessica’s Miami runway venture? And is this another example of a young designer getting edged out by a celebrity, or just one more fun parade of girls in bikinis to anticipate in Miami?
