that's nice...but how come there's no mention on the death of Liz Claiborne?

Um, because this post is about the Calvin show in Milan? Is the graphic not working for some reason?

simply stating the fact that the website forgot to mention that the woman who created a collection of fashions aimed at the growing number of women entering the work force has passed.

Hey Nicole,

We didn't forget, but we're not a news service. We don't post things here simply because they happen (note how we didn't discuss Ferre's death, either).

We didn't know her personally, and she hasn't designed her own collection - or even run her own company - in years.

Perhaps tomorrow we'll discuss the weirdness of Liz Claiborne now, how Tim Gunn is running Juicy Couture, but... oh wait, we've already discussed that...

Faran,

I don't understand why you're suddenly so hostile towards your commenters and readers. Are we too fat?

I don't think her comment was hostile at all. I think Nicole's comment was really snotty, in fact. "You forgot." Come on, she's fine.

I second that hostility and have noticed how much is dished out at commentators lately--especially by Faran. A gentle suggestion on a major new issue isn't someone saying you're doing a bad job--it was just a question. Are dissenting opinions and questions not allowed?

i agree with 66% of these comments.

that said, "xo" is always hostile. and faran, you're always preaching that fashion is fun and everyone should be allowed to take part. so, shouldn't everyone be allowed to have a say on here?

Come on people, put your name down if you have something to say. Heck, use a fake name if you wish but to say things and go by "Anonymous" is just not cool.

Are all the people in the photo strip just shopping? Gosh, I love how casual and chic (though probably some say dressed up) they are, you'll never see that in Vancouver.

Ms. Claiborne's unfortunate passing was reported by the NY Times at 3:55 est. A mere 3 minutes before this post went up. So, it's not like all other news services were reporting it hours ago.

I agree with Faran, this isn't a hard news site. But even if it was, give a girl a chance would ya?

Top row, center has a rather odd Penny Marshall as channeled by Wintour thing going on.

I'll admit- the hippie baby is blissful.

There is a Zara in Las Vegas and I found a lot of great work clothes there. It's a good store with decent prices.

Wow, it's interesting how "rude" can hide behind "Anonymous." It's a blog, people! Lighten up!

That said, I looove the Zara dress (and the baby, and the green dress), two of those girls need some steak, and that guy is definitely sporting the creepy/arrogant smirk (though he is fit).

ps- Since when is "xo" hostile? (Should I stop putting that in emails to my mum?!)

no one is truly anonymous here. they have our email addresses and i am sure they look everyone up on myspace to see what their readership is like. it would make perfect sense.

We are anonymous. E-mails aren't required. We don't have user names attached to an account. The only thing TPTB have is an IP address, if even.

That's why Faran is quick to crack the whip when she feels things are getting out of hand.

And I'm fairly certain having to defend every. single. solitary. post. is grating on her last nerve. Hell, it's grating on mine and I had considered myself to be the resident jackass.

It's a blog. It's biased. That's kinda the point.

I think this idea of regulating posted comments is fantastic. I'm sick and tired of people assuming that they do not have to be responsible for the things that they say. Guess what? If you put yourself "out there" by posting a comment on a blog that you read for entertainment, you shouldn't be too surprised (or offended) if someone tells you that they don't agree with you or that they think that you're wrong. We're all entitled to our opinions, but if we feel strongly enough about these opinions to post them in a public domain, then we--at the very least--have to be ready to be criticized, praised, or ignored.

truthfully I didn't mean to cause such a 'dispute'. I am part of and work in the fashion industry and had just commented on what I believed to be a blog. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am not criticizing anyone's ability (Faran). I am a fan of fashionista and enjoy the blog posts. keep up the great work
