It's my opinion that the fashion world loves dita NOT b/c they all want to screw her, but because she is a woman with conviction when it comes to her personal style. She is unwavering in her "look" - and, well, she straddles the whore/virgin line quite nicely, which is really what fashion is all about, no?

She has great style. And even though she takes her clothes of (for a living?) she is a LADY. Like the way women were back in the day, and that's really cool and kind of admirable. I mean, Lisa Airan probably gets more photo coverage in Vogue and such (even in the safari lookbook on Style.com) and what has she ever done for anyone or for fashion? SERIOUSLY.

I think her appeal is that, like Gypsy, she does burlesque--not full-on stripping (although granted, the pasties leave little to the imagination). She's essentially a well known performance artist. When she is fully clothed she goes for a very specific look, which is generally appreciated by fashion-folk. And she survived Marilyn Manson, she should get a medal.

I think Dita is incredibly STYLIZED, which the fashion world always likes. I think she's fascinating to rabid trend whores, basically because her look is so consistent and committed. And she's smart enough not to wear sack dresses, which everyone who is not pregnant is going to Truly Regret v soon.

Dita is a fashion world icon because she rocks a great, unique look - that never deviates - and has style to spare. Plus, I think her ladylike sensibility (I'm thinking of her off-duty attire here, not her pasties-and-g-string stagewear) has inspired many a designer recently. I love her. And no, I don't secretly yearn to be a stripper.

Also, she's very upfront about the fact that she started out as a stripper before turning to burlesque, so it's not like she's trying to pass herself off as anything other than what she is: A fair-skinned lady who likes to show her bits in public.

I'm probably the only person that thinks like this, But I don't think there's one sexy bone in that woman's body, she's too controled everything she does is too calculated.
I do not like her style at all, I don't see nothing special in copying text book the looks of a certain period, she's not being original, she looks like she's always in a costume for going to a fancy dress party.

Dita Von Teese gets her props because she is a burlesque performer of the highest scale. If you've seen Julie Atlas Muz perform then Dita, you would know the difference. Also, regardless of her boobs being fake or not, her style is consistent, controlled, lady like and flawless. If you've ever had a conversation with her (I'm sure most of you haven't) you'll find she's quite intelligent and well-read. Fashion fags women (adults in their 30s) respect and understand the lady-like, controlled, flawless, consistent, intelligence that comes with being a woman.

Her popularity merely stems from the fact that she is the antithesis of what is currently fashionable in pop culture, not to mention the adult entertainment industry- pale and cheekily demure in an ocean of rawhide skin and pantsless starlets.
You want burlesque, go see the Wau Wau Sisters. You want a fifth generation copy of a copy, Von Teese is your woman.

"Stripper" and "burlesque artist" are two very, very different things. Lohan and Paris and their ilk might as well be strippers due to the numerous times they've "accidentally" flashed their bits in public, but have we ever seen Dita's no-no spot without her express permission?
Nope. Dita has class and impeccable taste and always looks gorgeous. Yes, her breasts are implants, but they are the most natural looking implants in Hollywood as far as I'm concerned.
She is totally unafraid to consistently follow her own personal style, event if it is "fifth generation" as Cassette Love put it, at least it's not the same boho-chic/grunge-chic/slut-chic that gets garbled up again and again by endless parade of clones and wannabes on the red carpet.

I heart Dita! She owns her look, always looks glam and there's no one else like her out there....
I also like that she's about contradictions: glam/edgy; virgin/whore; straight-laced/sexy.
She's just one of the most interesting females out there today, period....

I love Dita (but when she has her clothes on!)
