you think teen vogue is a great magazine?! that’s frightening. here’s the truth. all the female teen mags are bullshit because they are written by 30-40 year olds who are out of touch. also they all cater to slender, Caucasian girls completely leaving out all other girls of color and size (and their size chart once every six months DON’T COUNT.) I’m glad to see it go (although ‘The Hills’ is a guilty pleasure of mine. Sorry Whitney!)

Actually, most of Teen Vogue‘s staff are in their mid-20s, even their beauty and fashion director.
Also, it’s not actually going to close, so you don’t need to be sorry to Whitney; she’ll still have a job for a very long time.

Drats then. And as for the ages of the staff, they need to actually get out and there and talk to teens because if they knew what they were doing, their sales wouldn’t be diminishing.

teen vogue is an amazing magazine.
I dropped my subscription to vogue and switched to teen vogue because i believe that teen vogue’s editorials are more creative, innovative, and just plain old better than vogue’s. and i was also sick of vogue’s stories on plastic surgery
oh and the august issue – i’m with you on the cover, but i thought that there was some interesting stuff inside, like margherita missoni’s younger sister

I do like Teen Vogue, but they should focus on more interesting teens than Anna Sui’s neice or famous designer’s offspring.
What did these offspring do that was so special to garner an article in Teen Vogue? It’s their parents that are the famous ones.
Is it so hard for the staff to find teens who are stylish and talented and NOT a designer’s neice, daughter, son, or cousin?

Teen Vogue has to stay in business because with the collapse of ELLEGirl it’s the only teen fashion magazine on the market. Sure, Seventeen and CosmoGirl have fashion features but primarily they seem to exist as advice mags to help teen girls navigate through boys, school, popularity, etc.
The teen magazine market seems to be dwindling and dividing anyway. All the stalwart titles of my youth have folded (YM and the particularly sucky Teen). The category of teenybopper fan magazines like Twist and J-14 seems to be exploding (perhaps because these are the teen counterparts to OK!, Life&Style;, InTouch, etc.). Just take a look through the teen magazine offerings on Amazon and you’ll see what I mean.

In the magazine world ad sales and subscriptions are the most important thing because that is where most of the money comes from. If Teen Vogue is not pulling this in then Teen Vogue is in more trouble than Britney Spears career!

I actually think that Teen Vogue is a more innovative magazine than Vogue. Vogue often just showcases looks directly off the runway and puts the top models in an exotic location.
Teen Vogue tries to make things wearable and chic for young girls. My friends and I often compliment each other’s wardrobe with a comment like, “You could be in a Teen Vogue spread with that outfit!”
I hope that Teen Vogue never closes because I will be very depressed!!

teen vogue is doing VERY WELL – in fact, it’s ad pages are very strong and advertisiers have really embraced the book. the nypost is severely misguided and was looking for a story. they could’ve picked any conde book, but the chose one that they are very unfamiliar with. details & men’s vogue on the other hand….

Then again the hills do premiere in like two weeks. Is this some weird way for them to get publicity and get us to start talking about the hills again.

i don’t think Teen Vogue will go away. the fashion powers that be know that TV readers will eventually become Vogue readers. isn’t this a great way to capture your market/audience while they are young and impressionable; they will eventually grow up to become your main audience/market. isn’t that why some fashion lines start lines for “girls”: Blumarine girl, BCBG girl, etc……
off topic: i read Details and really like it. i find the articles WAY more interesting and informational than women’s mags. they are not as condescending.

Teen Vogue is in the enviable position of being the leader in its category, and for that reason alone, it won’t fold. This doesn’t mean it’s a good magazine, it just means it’s the only one doing what it does–inculcating young readers into brand-awareness and brand-loyalty. I have subscriptions to both Teen Vogue and Vogue, and while I appreciate Teen Vogue’s flagrant consumerism, Vogue has better articles and features.

Teen Vogue better not close! It seems a lot of magazines are closing lately, probably because of the internet, and it makes me sad (I miss ElleGirl!). I absolutely love Teen Vogue, and I have to agree that they are very creative in their outfits.

What fashion(ish) magazine would you guys want to see close? (of course not that anyone wants people to lose their jobs…just curious which mags are least loved.)
I vote for allure. Who reads that thing? its the same nail polish lip gloss advice over and over and over again.

lulu: allure is extremely informative, and does excellent reporting if you look beyond any nail polish images. skin cancer is a topic that they cover frequently and heavily.

the funny thing about teen vogue to me is that all my twentysomething female friends are absolutely devoted to it, yet none of my teen-aged family members or their friends read it (i did some investigative work at the last family reunion).

I haven’t picked up Teen Vogue in a few years, so I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. However, I’m 16 and still prefer reading Vogue.

Lulu: Cosmopolitan needs to close, now. I’m sure we’ve already all gleaned all the blow job tips we’re ever gonna get out of it (they’ve been reprinting the same ones for the last 15 years), the overly slangy copy is annoying as all get out, and its sole fashion perspective is “How to Look Sexy for Him!”

Teen Vogue is a bunch of bullshit, no real fashion, not alot of inspiring styling inspirations. Vogue is much much better. I might be a teen I see absolutely no fashion value within TeenVogue. I like it but it just kind of disgraces its creator Vogue.
