We've been having a little diction dilemma lately:

What do you call the clothing that's not quite old enough to be vintage, and not quite new, either?

Is it "nouveau vintage"?

Or just...used?

Once you've figured that out, tell me this:

What do you call a ">Forever 21 knockoff of a Prada sandal from 2003, as spotted by reader Sarah Z?

How about:

Newer, but not necessarily cuter...

Okay, you -could- say consignment but:

"Is that consignment?"

"Yes, I only buy consignment now."

doesn't sound quite right.

The F21 sandal is actually a total rip off of a Giuseppe Zanotti one.

Proof:

Sadly I can not afford the GZ one's so I paid for the F21 one's. I figure its not that bad for something I'll probably wear out for only one summer anyways.

Definitely not cuter, but not nearly as egregious as ripping off something from the current season.

I know F21 rips off everything, but that exact style of sandal with jewels and all has been popular on and off for like the last 10 years...

I really doubt that Prada shoe is what they were thinking of when they made those.

It looks a bit more like those Balenciaga sandals to me...

I don't see it as ripping off the Prada shoe, which has two components that aren't reproduced in the F21 version, namely the strap that goes across the middle of the foot, and the opaque, plastic-y gems. Rather, I think F21 is just aping a style that's been everywhere for the past couple of seasons.

i think they're great- who wouldn't want a less expensive version of a designer shoe?
