I loved her on the show even though I thought that in the real modeling world she wouldn't stand much of a chance. But maybe with someone other than Tyra and Jay coaching her she could be mildly successful??? maybe???

She looks better in this photo than she ever looked on the show.

I loved her on the show and thought she was robbed, but then I never really expect much from the ANTM girls regardless of placement in the competition. However, she looks kind of like a real model here:

like pretty much every ANTM girl, she'll be coming soon to your favorite teen magazine (that isnt teen vogue) and catalogues. though she does look better in that picture than she did in the entire season.

I think she's cute, although she didn't do great on the runway.

She looks great in this picture, though, even if it is a "men's magazine" sort of thing: http://www.cwtv.com/thecw/gen-gallery-antm-models/9/8

bella, if my memory serves me well, only half of the ANTM winners were minorities. and what's up with associating the words minority and poor???

uggggh, whhhhy.

eh, i guess i shouldn't worry. it's not like ANTM models get any work anyways.

and with that hellacious accent/speech impediment (remember the australian accent challenge?!), natasha won't be on any chili's commercials anytime soon.

Bella, that was an ignorant statement to make. Not every minority who comes on ANTM is poor (ghetto) and in desperate need of an education. You should think before you make such hurtful statements.

aja,

bella didn't say that all minorities championed on ANTM were poor, just that Tyra tends to sympathize more with people that had challenging backgrounds and are minorities.

i've watched every season of ANTM, and thinking back to some of the minority contestants (Camille, Whitney, Kelle, Ebony, the list goes on...), i just don't recall many of them stating they came from poor backgrounds. of course, i'm not denying the fact that there have been contestants (and winners) in that financial situation. i was mainly critiquing the way you used minority and poor in the same sentence. (you didn't say "i'm all for helping the poor, the young, and the minorities" you said "i'm all for helping the poor, young minorities.") PS re: Jaslene, look at for her lot 29 ads to hit September issues :) peace!

Seymour, I don't really care whether she said "all" or "some". The "uneducated, poor minority" association is just a generalization that I'm kind of sick of. People shouldn't toss words around.

AJA: how about tyra tends to pick girls from financially hard backgrounds, some who are minorities, some who are not. either way they are not in need of modeling lessons, they are in need of an education. i am well aware that poor does not equal minority as some of the most intelligent and succesful people in modern america are often indian, asian or jewish. sadly, the uneducated still has strong connections with the word poor.

thetakitegrl- No no, she's not calling the kettle black. Bella is merely stating something she's noticed about ANTM and our culture, and what she's deduced from these observations are facts many of us acknowledge to be true. Just because Bella is stating an uncomfortable fact does not mean she doesn't have manners.

Aja- You SHOULD care. Bella's stated generalization is a well known one, and she should not be criticized for intelligently bringing it up. You may be sick of this generalization, but it is still one that does have a tiny, minute, basis in fact.

Bella, I'm with you!!! (And I'm sure most everyone else who reads the comments is too, just maybe they have more of a tolerance for aja's/thetakitegrl's statements than I do.)

joix--based on how i read bella's comments, she wasn't making generalizations about minorities, she was making a generalization about the minorities on ANTM. in the latter case i have an issue because specific to ANTM i don't think the majority of non-white contestants were poor! [i could be wrong though, it's not like every minority contestant shared their income status. i'm even making my own assumptions in some sense, but if we have nothing to go on but skin color, why assume that they're poor?]

i can only speak for myself, but i don't think bella was intentionally being prejudiced. it's just that when you use the words minority and poor in the same sentence referring to a specific group of black and latina women (rather than an entire race), you're 1) making assumptions not based on fact and 2) you're perpetuating a racist stereotype.

sorry, faran, for getting all sociological on your blog!!! :)

No, I shouldn't care whether she said "all" or "some". I don't agree with what she said at all. And I certainly don't think what was said, was intelligent. And I'm stepping down from this argument, because it's going nowhere.

Aja, I desperately hope you are not planning to go into anything involving speech writing or similar in the future, because your lack of ability to notice the key little words, i.e. "all" and "some" would mean death in the realm of politics and law.
If you don't agree with what Bella said, fine, you don't agree because you know things we don't, or far more likely, you did not read what she actually wrote correctly and/or are sadly misinformed about that which you are discussing. As for Bella's statement not being intelligent, well we are on a fashion blog's comments board, it's not as though everything we say needs to be wildly enlightening. What she said was reasonable, at worst.
As for your P.S., Bella wasn't really making generalizations, just stating old ones, and my single generalization about the others on the comments...well that was just me trying to have some faith in a small chunk of humanity, which, fear not, I no longer include you in.

And to the last anonymous (10:57), I totally understand how you might feel strongly about a generalization on the minorities on ANTM, but if you look back at exactly what Bella said, it was that a large proportion of the more financially unfortunate on ANTM were non-white, as opposed to the majority of non-white contestants being poor. (I am not going to promise, though, that I watch enough ANTM to really know the races of those contestants who were highlighted as being comparatively poor. )
To sum up, I agree with everything from your post, as I understood it.
