Models

She’s Baaaack

she's back.jpg
A few weeks ago on the comments boards, there was some model nostalgia for Gerren Taylor.

The funny thing is, she just turned sixteen - we were all missing a model who was maybe in 8th grade when we first started our style crushes.

Oops.

Anyway, Ms. Taylor has resurfaced on the New Faces board at Storm!

We’ve sent them a request to interview the former Teen Vogue obsession, and we suspect she’ll be surfacing - or should we say resurfacing - on various runways in September - ironic, since although she’s been working since she was 12, this is the first year that model regulations would have prevented her from walking… except she’s actually, finally, of age.

While we wait for Gerren contact, enjoy the now-vintage ad she did for Marc by Marc… way back in 2004.

Wow do we feel old.

She's also plays on a Reality TV Show similar to The Hills...IT's called Baldwin Hills and it play on BET for those needing a Gerren fix now...

After reading many negative comments about her appearance in a fashion forum, I believed I was the only person (besides Marc) who actually loved her. Can't wait to see her more often!

At the time I remember reading articles where insiders dubbed Gerren the "New Naomi".
According to MIchael Gross 1940's model, Carmen Dell'Office also had a similar early start as a fashion model but her modeling career lost momentum when she developed a more shapely figure after getting her period at around 15 or 16 years old.

"Chanel Iman's got that market covered now, sweetie."

What an arrogantly flippant comment... yet so ignorant.

I'm glad that the fashion industry can conceptualize having more than one person of color as a visible face in the world of high fashion these days... go Gerren go! Go Chanel go!

^I agree. "the market is covered"? HARDLY. There is but a smattering of brown faces in the industry. which is a SHAME.

I am really happy that Gerren took a break to be a teen. you dont get that time back. I dont think baldwin hills was such a good look for her but whatever.
