Will Stam Wear Wings?

ice ice baby.jpg
Overheard last night at Alice’s Tea Cup, during the Charlotte Ronson dinner:

Photos of Jessica Stam were so popular after the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, the brand has signed her up to be a VS Angel.

But glittered wings are a major commitment -

Would Stam give up her massive runway career, and starting position as a Paris Vogue favorite, so she could star in a catalogue?

If she took the job, it would put her on track to be the next Cameron Diaz, or at least the next blonde billionaire - remember, five of the top fifteen models on Forbes most paid list have had the VS job.

Can anyone say no to an extra million dollars - even if it means trading Marc for the mall?

oh no! i hope not. i love stam and i do think its a really interesting direction for VS to go, she is def more editorial then in-your-face sexy, albeit probably the most gorgeous girl on the planet today. but i think she makes suuuuch an important impact on runway work it'd be really sad to see her strutting in a bejewled thong this fall.

Daria's rumored to have turned down a VS contract...maybe Stam will too. At least I hope so!

Don't do it, Stam, don't do it!

Unless she's positive she can be the next Gisele...

Stams already such a big name in modeling-meaning people know her that don't necessarily know fashion. That's rare for non-VS models. And let's face it, the VS stuff is a lot of fun. I say go for it.

on the one hand, I'm happy for my fellow Canadian girl for snagging a high-profile brand...on the other hand, I'm thinkin': stay far, far away Jessica, you're too good for them!!!

i say go for it. she has to think about her future and this job can pretty much guarantee she will have a nice nest egg to tuck away. gone are the heydays of the "i won't get out of bed for less than $10k" supermodels. and models keep getting younger and younger hence their longetivity is getting shorter and shorter. a model is considered ancient at 25 yrs.! VS will make her a household name.

I like Stam and think she's beautiful, but Victoria's Secret? She has a flat butt and practically no cleavage. She has more of an icy, graceful editorial look than a beach bombshell look.
However, I think Doutzen would make a great Angel - she's a bit more versatile than Stam.

she wouldn't necessarily have to give up her runway career...giselle, karolina kurkova, as well as izabel goulart continued to do runway while under contract with VS. so, she'd lose a good amount of street cred, but depending on what kind of contract she signed with VS, she could still do runway or other campaigns

the photos were popular because we all felt bad for her as clam girl.

I think she should go for it. Her high fashion career, though fabulous, is coming to and end. I think she's been angling towards commercial for a bit now, and VS is perfect for her. While she doesn't have much of a shape, she did exude sexiness in the VS show. She was quite good! However, if she does sign with VS, I hope she continues to do and much HF work as possible. I like her best HF, but we all know that i doesn't last forever - that's why I think she should take VS.

I don't think she's VS material. VS evokes a bombshell, almost Bond-girl esque disposition. Jessica is too delicate, dare I say peculiar looking. Her looks are best suited for runway.

oh I hope not!
she shouldn't be wasted upon the pedestrian, PINK-wearing masses.
