After our debate a couple of weeks ago about the pros and cons of designer shades (affordable luxury or just another way to lose $300) – we came across a pair of handmade, ostrich and alligator skin sunglasses.
They’re from Moss Lipow, the sunglass company that’s so exclusive and important, it doesn’t even have a working website.
Although we aren’t that into “exotic leather (ostriches are cute!), the glasses look cool, and definitely stand out from this summer’s ubiquitous Wayfarers.
But the price?
A mere $3,800!
Definitely not something you want to leave on the beach.
On the other hand, those $1,000 Louis Vuitton shades are starting to look like a bargain.

curses! After reading the disposable vs. designer sunglasses post, what suddenly disappeared? Yes, my favorite Marc Jacobs shades (bought with the justification in mind that "if I spend lots of money on sunglasses, I'll treat them better and remember not to sit on them and crack them!").
The $5 sidewalk-vendor sunglasses, however, are doing just fine. I hate you, karma.
