While wandering around in Copenhagen, we were awe-struck by the highly sculptural and conceptual styles on the racks at boutiques at all price points. Apparently, the Danes have a more avant-garde approach to everyday fashion. Our very favorite label for Danish ready-to-wear is Camilla Staerk, but Camilla's not the designer - That honor goes to Robert Craig Searle, who worked for Donald Campbell and Vivienne Westwood before starting out on his own. His impossibly cool designs are all the rage in Denmark, but you can also pick them up at NYC boutiques Dernier Cru and No. 6. The Camilla Staerk Fall/ Winter collection is an unusual blend - a little Edward Gorey-style Gothic, a touch of Marlene Dietrich, and just a dash of Annie Hall - but we think it works. And now we know what to wear while drinking absinthe at Edwardian theme parties - which, if you don't know yet, will be huge with the fashion crowd this fall. You’ll invite us if you have one - right? --ALISON COOL
