In Europe, Sleeker Sneakers and Pointy Toes

red or dead sneaks 2.jpg
While Europeans remain obsessed with Levis and Converse, we really like it when they do their own takes on US wardrobe staples.

For example, we noticed kids wearing Converse-esque sneakers that have a slightly pointed toe, like these ones from Red or Dead (about $40).

The slight change in shape makes the sneaker narrower and slightly more fashion-y and feminine.

This version from the British shopping chain Schuh also comes in Crayola colors, which are so fun.

We don’t know if Americans are ready to ditch their All-Stars just yet, but if there’s room in your closet for one more pair of shoes, we highly recommend parking these guys next to your hi-tops.

are you kidding? these have been a trend in tokyo and hong kong for nearly six years. slightly pointed takes on converses, in rad or ridiculous colors and pattern variations. the notorious chuck has been restructured and altered to oblivion here.

No. never. absolutely not.
few things look more stupid to me than sneakers which have heels or pointy toes or some other idiotic non-sneaker element.

Hm...I've been in Paris this summer and a lot of young guys are wearing this kind of shoes or they are very casual dressed and they wear fancy black or white pointy shoes.

I don't know what to think...I guess If they are wearing them in hong kong and tokio we just have to get used to them :))

id agree with sarah. Im a guy but i own at least ten pairs of these pointed sneakers in different brands in different colors and materials gold being the latest. the old ones i gave them away(thats how cool they are). Yup its been a recurring trend in japan and hk. i get mine in hk. I dont know why people question wearability of these styles. in fact id agree that the pointed toes has a slimmer effect when worn on the feet than the typical shape of chucks. Though im not against chucks since i have a collection of them myself, but dont you think fashion is change? people should try out new stuff. Ill bet people who complain on this style would end up wearing them if they start seeing other people wear it. guess were innovators or early adopters. To lfr ,fashion is the adjustment of the eye. never say never. look at skinny jeans and hi waists few years ago people say theyll never be caught dead wearing them. and look at them now... We shouldnt question these things. If you are into fashion one should be eternally open minded.

cute - they look like a sneaker that Duckie might wear, while not wearing his scruffy duck shoes.

Eh I tried these when Sugar started making them many moons ago. I prefer converse-flat hybrids. Those I'm okay with if they're pointy.

yeah, they've been all over the english high streets for what, a year? I blogged about them a while ago, wondering if they'd make it over here, but I haven't seen any in new york.

I agree with everyone else. I saw a pair of pointy-toe Converse-esques in YM magazine probably at least 6 years ago.
