Lord and Taylor Get Lauren

stumble and fall by razorlight.jpg
Vogue staffer Lauren Davis is used to seeing her name on the magazine’s masthead - but what about her face the magazine’s ads?

This fall, it’ll happen.

In September, the new Lord and Taylor campaign will be unveiled in magazines, (including Vogue) as well as posted in the Bryant Park Tents. The launch symbolizes the store’s rebirth, and repositions it to compete (they hope) with Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, and Barneys.

Lauren’s campaign cast mates include some of our favorite models, including Jacquetta Wheeler, Carolyn Murphy, and Lydia Hearst. Children of celebrities like Clint Eastwood and John McEnroe will also pose in the ads.

But the one we’re most dying to see is Lauren’s - maybe because we wonder if it’ll make the Vogue Best Dressed List, where Lauren is often a guest editor.

Or maybe because it’s the first time a socialite, and not a pop star, has starred in an ad campaign in The Tents. We’ll be looking for it.

the ad is in this month's Vanity Fair, and lauren looks like, well, herself. it's a multi-page spread and she's only in one segment (the one that looks like it was completely ripped off from Burberry's campaigns of a year ago).

carolyn and jacquetta are gorgeous. lauren stands out as a bit duck-lipped and bored. she's got the same half-smile she's wearing in every picture i've ever seen of her.

Yeah..I saw the ads too and was not impressed. (I didn't realize they were for L&T until I got to the end of the campaign.) If L&T is trying to lure a shopper that has money & style, they need think less all-american and more continental.

I'm looking forward to seeing these ads- I saw a couple of shots online, but have yet to see the campaign in a magazine. It looks great from what I've seen though, and I'm glad to hear they're updating their look to match their more fashion forward selection.

I love Lord & Taylors. I get all of my formal dresses for any events I have there. They have all the designers and are reasonably priced and never crowded. I'm always amazed that my friends think of it as an "old persons" store when they have all the brands and labels from practically every price point that we wear.
