Nicole Richie and the Amazing Balenciaga Bag

nicole 3.jpg
We don’t love tabloid fodder or the personal details of strangers who happen to be famous.

And yet, we’re totally obsessed with this photo essay from people.com about the artful ways Nicole disguised her baby bump.

Our favorite strategy?

The clever way Nicole holds her giant Balenciaga bag in front of her stomach.

It makes us wonder if we should copy her pose whenever we’re feeling icky, bloated, or mortified with whatever blouse we’ve chosen to wear to a party.

And if a Balenciaga bag doubles as a master of disguise, does that mean it’s okay to splurge on one?

(If not, there’s also a cute trick she does with a scarf…)

don't you love when people have to preface talking about a celebrity with how they're so above it and don't care. but oh, i just happened to be on people.com, researching darfur, and stumbled across this. charming.

Don't you love it when anonymous comments bring up Darfur out of nowhere, to make you feel "frivolous"?

Ah yes. Well, Nicole Richie does have that "starved in a foreign country" look to her sometimes.

Those that are interested, today's the day to call your senators and urge them to support the bill sending more foreign aid to Darfur.

And those that are interested in other things, I think the Balenciaga motorcycle bags are back at Bergdorf.

err the point was more, you don't have to act like you don't care about celebrities, especially when you write about them. it's ok. if you don't love tabloid fodder, or personal lives of people just because they're famous, you wouldn't read people. and in today's fashion industry, celebrity is the driving force, so it's best to get over the 'i'm too cool for tmz' thing.

I think Alison really doesn't love celebs, but she realizes she has to write about their clothes sometimes.

I actually do love celebs, sometimes, especially when they give me presents.

I know I'm supposed to hate her and think she's tacky and such but I can't help it. I love her. And her clothes. Her boyfriend? Not so much. The drug use? Not so much. But her. I love people who are mean-funny. And she's just so damn...pretty/ugly. You know what I mean? She's the ugly pretty girl. Or maybe the pretty, ugly girl. I don't know. But I love her.

I love her, too. She seems to realize what her place in the world is and she rolls with it. I think she's hilarious.
