Should Eyeglasses Have Logos?

coco sunglasses.jpg
Sometimes the most blinding thing at the beach isn’t the sun, but the embellishments on other people’s sunglasses.

Thankfully, we usually have our own shades on hand to shield us from those glaring rhinestones and neon logos.

But what will we do if the trend hits the office?

Coco Rocha’s new D & G ad makes us wonder if prescription eyeglasses will start to look more like their outrageous sunglass counterparts.

Suddenly our co-workers might be showing up to work, looking like they have giant belt buckles glued to the sides of their face.

But if handbags and shoes can be everyday accessories and still make a bold statement, why not eyeglasses?

Frames like these have been out for a few years now.

I've always thought they were tacky.

I don't know, as a daily glasses wearer, I think elaborate glasses are kind of impractical. I mean, I have one pair that more or less looks good with whatever I wear, but if I got funkier pairs, they might not match everything and then I'd have to have several. Which would get really expensive, really fast.

This doesn't surprise me coming from D&G.

Practically speaking, these are not the best for actually seeing. Peripheral vision?

I have a pair of Prada specs that have a tasteful, teeny-tiny logo. Those, however, are hideous, even without the logo - what's with the wire-rim/thick plastic side combo? Yuck.

For sunglasses yes definitely. I have things to prove. But on regular perscription frames? It's really not practical.

Those glasses are scary and so is Coco. I still can't figure out why she's so popular.

I encountered someone the other day who had CHANEL blazing across the temples or arms or whatever of her glasses. With sunglasses, I think it's tacky, but with regular prescription frames, I think it's downright unprofessional. It reminds me of the British chavs.

As someone who is getting older and needs glasses to read & do makeup..I can do a pair of flashy specs an get a way with it. However, I think something less obvious is better for every day.

I've wanted so many sunglasses to be normal glasses before, so if this trend is "new" then I saw let's keep it going because it's a good look on me.

Recently went shopping for eyeglasses and was willing to shuck a large chunk of change into finding a great pair only to be vulgarized by all the nasty logos- Chanel, D&G, Burberry- didn't matter. Bedazzling up something so close to your face is second only to a designer logo tattoo and just as tasteless.

Jason Preston, looking right. at. you.

Ugh, a friend of mine changed her glasses to these ugly Prada's that look awful on her. I think the sole reason she got them was for the logo, and it just looks tacky.

uh, it's not exactly a "trend" that some people think of eyeglasses as accessories. if you wear them all day, every day, on your face, it seems sort of logical, and in no way tied to a new trend, that some will choose big frames, or frames with logos, etc.

oversized frames, thick frames, frames with logos or embellishments -- that's hardly something that's "starting" now.

All the checkout girls at my grocery store wear glasses like this. At least all the ones who wear glasses.
