Earlier this month, we reported the Gap European collection was now available on the US Website. The only trouble is that most Gap stores aren't carrying these clothes, so you have to eyeball them and figure out what's actually good. Or you could just keep reading - We swung by The Gap this weekend and did a thorough examination of the outfits - something we felt was quite important, since this Gap range costs almost double their normal clothes...

DO BUY Any of the wool coats. Their cut is fantastic and they're very thick - if there was a windstorm or even rain, you'd still be comfortable. Cotton tops like The Ruffled Henley. The fabric feels great, and they're cut a little bit boxy, which means they layer well and also work when you're not feeling body-conscious. The Cropped Wide Leg pants. This style was huge on the Fall runways; this is the only mass brand we've found to copy the same silhouette, and the quality is really good. DON'T BUY The leather bomber jacket. I know, I'm so bummed - this was the one item I really wanted, but it's thin and looks scrappy, and the collar especially feels too ragged for a $350 coat. The sweater dresses. The ones from Banana Republic are just as good. STILL FIGHTING TO GET The jodhpurs. Maybe they thought they wouldn't sell in the States, but they're so cool, and cost about 95% less than the ones by Balenciaga. The motorcycle boots. We've never seen a pair of boots that already looked this worn, and we want to clomp all over London in them - surely American girls need them, too!
