Gwen Stefani Speaks!

If we adored Gwen Stefani any more, she might be Phoebe Philo.
Besides being a great performer and – it seems – an actually cool and nice woman, we think she’s one of the smartest women in the entertainment business, and although her brand is a little too expensive for us, it’s generally very cute, very true to Gwen’s own style, and very easy to like.
Last night, Gwen had her second-ever fashion show in the Tents – but the W Lounge where she holed up with a bottle of L.A.M.B’s new scent (which smells like sugar lemons and kisses) was a glamorously far cry from her first fashion show digs:
“When I showed in Roseland Ballroom my first time, it was with the rats!” She told us. “I was so excited to show there because I’d done my concerts there, but… it was really filthy. I went backstage before my own show to change into my [L.A.M.B.] dress… I think there was pee on the floor! But I was so glad I showed there, it’s where I was supposed to be. Now I am supposed to be here in the Tents.”
Very rock & roll.
You can read more about Gwen – including her Lily Cole love, her ska influence, and her “incredible” closet – on our Teen Vogue page later today.
Until then, we thought the ska / rugby influence that’s usually reserved for Fall was really well translated for Spring.

I really like Gwen, and think the new collection is cute and all, but it’s more than just “inspired,” don’t you think? I feel like she watched an old concert of the Jam with a sketch pad in hand. Then I think she looked at pictures of Edie and Peggy Moffett. I know fashion is all about influence, but the only slant she put on those recycled rude girl/skinhead looks is that she mixed them with 80s mod revival.

Cathy Horyn’s account of the LAMB show is so right it hurts.
nothing new from gwen really and it looks more like f/w than s/s to me.

I LOOOOVVEEE her more than anything. It was interesting to see LAMB’s first show without Zaldy. –B

I’m not usually a blog commentor, but I just read the Teen Vogue peice and I’m so extremely jealous of your face time with Gwen!

I like Gwen with No Doubt, her fashion/ stores etc. But some of her solo singles suck and make me cringe- like that banana song. Loved Tragic Kingdom.

LOVE HER. But the handbags are ridiculously ugly.

imjust not a fan of gwen.i dislike her too blonde hair and her outfits even more. lamb is just plain trashy to me!
