Fall's Manic Panic obsession may be about colored hair, but for Spring '08, it looks like the Kool Aid hues have seeped into the clothes. Our favorite example so far is the super shiny silk stuff at Doucette Duvall. The dresses may be a little too loose for some girls - especially if you're weary of your height or your compact curves - but the colors were insane, as if a wardrobe were dip-dyed in maraschino cherry juice and wrung out with deep blue chlorine. The feel of the collection was speakeasy slouch, with models lounging in drop waists and cropped coats. It's not a new idea, but it was executed well, and with a touch of Lilly Pulitzer prep school - a shot of argyle socks, a snap of popped collar, Nantucket greens and pinks in the mix. We especially liked how some girls had mustaches painted across their lips, though we suspect that wouldn't go over well at a vaguely hip with your parents - which is where these clothes were sewn to go.
