Avoiding Annie Hall

sh.png

When people talk about menswear-inspired clothes, they usually reference Annie Hall. It’s a great movie, and Diane Keaton looks cute, but we definitely wouldn’t want to wear her outfit.

On closer inspection, in most of the movie, she’s wearing some combination of the following: baggy pants, weird oversized vest, big thick tie, huge woven tote bag, dorky glasses, and super messy hair.

It’s totally endearing, but let’s face it - not really that attractive.

We think a better example of how to look cute in menswear stuff comes from up-and-coming Norweigan designer So Hee.

Her fall/winter lookbook is like a textbook in how to pull off the masculine-feminine vibe without veering off into completely disheveled Annie Hall slob territory.

Didn't Ralph Lauren design the clothes for Annie Hall? He loves women in men style clothing.

Diane Keaton looked supercute in her menswear in Annie Hall. Sexy too. But I don't care for Fedoras on women or fake collars on anyone. I also don't see how cashmere wool cardigans/sweaters are menswearlike. These outfits don't look masculine to me.
