Boy Crazy

When menswear is as girly as the new collection from Material Boy, is it really menswear at all?

The pretty boy male model for the line looks cuter and more Twiggy-esque than we ever have, and the printed blouses (or should we say shirts?) and leggings seem less like something you would borrow from your boyfriend than something your boyfriend would never borrow from you.

Nonetheless, we haven't seen such a fun collection in a long time. The tongue-in-cheek theme of the collection, "Celebration of your inner gay," hints that the gender-bending aesthetic of the line is more playful than misguided. Stockists Seven in New York and Surface to Air in Paris certainly seem to approve.

We think that the play of neon flashes, graphic patterns, odd hues of yellow, and a touch of robin's egg blue looks amazingly fresh for spring.

Fake eyelashes and size 13 platform wedges are, of course, optional.

good for modeling and model art but not for guys wearing, unless they are gay (no offense intended) or simply like it
