In this episode of GGS, Abby and Faran meet Matthew Kristall, a photographer with a fashion magazine collection ranging from ’50s Bazaars to supermodel-era Vogues. We wish he had a lending library, but at least we can vicariously enjoy his collection with this video!

if you live in nyc, then you should definitely check out the Manhattan Vintage Tradeshow. I think its twice a year and there's probably one coming this month (if it didnt already happen). All the vintage vendors from all over the country are there and all the fashion designers go to buy stuff for inspiration (i ran into francisco costa and anna sui last year), a couple of them had a TON of vintage magazines going way back into the early 20th century, It costs 20 bucks to get in, but it's well worth it (i scored a sweet pair of vintage gucci flora heels for 100 bucks).

one of my absolute favorite little places in the city used to be michael gallagher's gallery on 4th ave. shelves and stacks of art, fashion photography, design, etc. books and international and vintage mags too. one day i walked by and it was just all cleared out. i never found out what happened...and i just did a quick google and found this village voice article: http://www.villagevoice.com/nyclife/0724,yaeger,76914,15.html
i'm not sure if he ended up shutting down the archive too, but if it's still there i highly recommend checking it out ( http://www.vintagemagazines.com - 12th st. between 3rd and 4th ave.) it's this dingy little basement with everything from fashion mags to news, sports, music, whatever. even if you can't afford a 1920s Vogue, you could seriously spend hours just looking through it all. comes complete with a surly french man who handles sales and acquisitions.

Where's a good place to purchase old magazines?
