Top Model

Jaslene Books Jobs, Emails Tyra

jaslene.jpg
We met Jaslene Gonzalez last week, very randomly, and we learned something very fun:

She’s rumored to have booked a fashion campaign, for Eve’s new line, Fetish (another celebrity clothing range!).

According to a source close to the brand, that makes her just the second Top Model champ ever to score a series of clothing ads - the first was Eva Pigford, who booked an Apple Bottoms campaign a year after her win.

Look for Jaslene’s pictures to break soon, but she’ll probably be seen first on the new season of the show, giving advice to the top 3 girls before their big Cover Girl shoot (and our picks for the top 3 girls are… Jenna… Heather… and, um, Lisa?).

“Tyra and I stay in touch over email,” Jaslene told us, “Because we’re both so busy!”

It’s okay Jaslene - we’re not sure we could handle talking to Tyra all the time either.

ugh, I wish America's Next Top Model would just go away - including all of the current and former contestants and especially Tyra. I seriously feel like the show has just become a way for Tyra to show off how fabulous she is.

1-she's not a real model
2-"fetish" is probably another crappy celebrity whim gone wrong....ugh..

I totally believe Jaslene is a real model. Granted "fetish" may not be the most prestigious line to model for, she is still doing amazing things. She walked in new york fashion week, she is a philanthropist working with liz claiborne and she is working really hard. No matter how she got to where she is, it is apparent that she is working and making the best of the situation, so don't bad-mouth her just because she wasn't discoved at a fruit stand or a mcdonald's.

Jen, I agree with you. I feel like ANTM is just another extension of her self-absorbed, holier-than-thou talk show.

Oh, and I heard a spoiler (not sure if it's true) that Jenah and Saleisha are the final 2. Saleisha? Are you serious?

Jaslene is a fright. And Tyra is a monster. But I will never not watch.

What about Dani for Akademics?

Actually, Fetish has been around for several years and is a line of urban fashion for girls a la Baby Phat.

Nothing new.

If ANTM went off the air I might never again find myself at the end of a full-season marathon saying, "I just watched America's Next Top Model for *how* many hours?"

But I can't decide if that would be a good thing or a bad thing.

Last season they were desperate for a winner and got stuck with Jaslene. If you watch the casting episode of the season before they show her making it to the finals but not actually on the show because they think she looks like a drag queen. I don't think her look has changed.

Saleisha's hair is straight up scooby doo. Tyra is a self involved idiot who is famous because of the way she looks.

I think it's spelled Jenah.

I agree with your picks though.

Don't hate. Tyra might be using the show to show off her fabulousness but people watch. She's got something going for her~ I for one, love the show.

If she is booking modeling jobs, she is a model. I don't understand the animus toward these women. They are all trying to get work. They don't deserve the contempt.

Tyra created a show that people have enjoyed watching. People should take it for what it is: an entertainment and an opportunity for young women who either want to be on t.v. or need a push into model, even if lower level modeling.

Jaslene was a very deserving winner. She took great pictures.

actually, eugena has had a couple of campaigns (one for an urban-ish brand called south pole, one for a jewelry line) and she walked in several LA fashion week shows.

and yeah - dani and akademiks!
