Luella’s Bag Designer Departs

Two weeks ago, Luella Bartley lost her bags - when her London shop was raided, a group of thieves stole away with almost all of them.

But now she’s also lost her bag designer -

We heard at last night’s Free Arts party that the man responsible for Luella’s incredible totes is leaving for a smaller label, which means her Fall ‘08 runway may have accessories with a different vibe.

Whether they’ll be as addictive as her recent range remains to be seen, especially since Luella’s accessories are the core of her collection -

She’s often said that her first big bag, The Gisele, was the most important thing she’s ever done.

I wonder if it has anything to do with her handbag sales dropping off. I haven't seen her handbags in a store in forever (at least in Dallas). I see them on the runway and think they look adorable, but they never seem to make it to the stores.
I bought one of her bags years ago and loved it. Although I'll never get rid of it, I think I'd feel silly carrying it again, since they were knocked off so much....

Stuart Vevers at Mulberry designed her first bags - including the Gisele.. the line was called Mulberry for Luella.
