Would You Wear

Metalliferous

We like a dash of metallics now and again, and we feel more secure in our desire now that we know Bill Cunningham feels the same way.

In fact, during any discussion of glittery and shiny clothing, triumphantly announcing that you can always wear silver or gold “because they’re neutral”! is one of our favorite fashion trump cards.

After gradually coming to terms with Beyonce’s Balenciaga leggings and the more Brooklyn-friendly shiny American Apparel versions, we’ve now come across a totally new and perplexing metallic question:

Are metallics manly?

The fall/winter collection from the cultish German menswear label Postweiler Hauber sort of forced the issue for us. The silver puffy jacket and the loose shiny pants look rad in the lookbook, but can you wear this stuff outside of Berlin?

if my husband said he liked those clothes three things would happen.
1. I would assume his brain had somehow been removed & replaced with glittering cocaine laced burning dollar bills.
2. I would call paramedics to take him to a place where he could "get some rest".
3.we would get divorced.
this is how strongly i dislike this apparel.

I love men who are fashionable, I really do. My boyf knows SO much about designers and he really follows whats going on. HOWEVER I will always appreciate the fact that although he will see this kind of stuff, he still sticks to american apparel tshirts and well-cut jeans. I don't think there's a guy in the world who could pull this look off just walking around or going to school/work. yikes!
