You've seen it at Prada and you've seen it at Chanel. But are you ready to wear a spat? The L.A. Times has a piece about the buttoned shoe-coverings and tipped us off to high-end spat manufacturer Posso, which makes fancy leather spats that won't embarass your Louboutins. Super cool Los Angeles boutique stocks the Posso spats (and presumably explains to customers how to wear them.) Like those clip-on bows that you can buy at old-timey shoe stores, the spat is a way to modify and personalize shoes that you've had forever and are starting to bore you. Flats can become boots. Simple strappy sandals can get a gladiator makeover. Oxfords and jazz shoes can become saddle shoe-esque. What's the final verdict: are these just silly over-the-shoe socks, or will you strap them on come spring? --ALISON COOL
