The Neck of Trentini

Reader Julia writes in with a fun fact about Caroline Trentini:

"I have been a longtime supporter of the Kikoy Womens Group, both in principle and in their actual merchandise.

The women [in the Kikoy group] are paid for each Kikoy that they knot, they are able to carry the Kikoys to their houses and knot in their homes. Not only preserving a craft, The Kikoy Company are now assisting all these women who can improve their lifestyle tremendously without detriment or neglect to their children.

Understandably I was super psyched to see Caroline Trentini supporting such a fair, pro-labor company. Here she is sporting her very own Kenyan Kikoy!"

And it's really cute.

We've often wondered where models get the gauzy patterned scarves that seem so fundamental to their hallmark layered styles. If you're looking to emulate a similar look, the Kikoy scarf seems like a good way to go - wear it like Caroline or also peeking out of a leather bomber jacket...

Hey Faran -

This is a picture that I took of Caroline when I met her at a casting during NYFW. I don't know if it was your mistake or Julia's, but please credit me in your post! Thank you!!

Wow. My sister brought me a kikoi exactly like that from Kenya a while back. It is one of my favourite accessories. . .not just as a scarf but a beach cover up, etc. It's extremely versatile and for a good cause. . . what could be better than that?!
