Last night, we headed over near Brooklyn's Navy Yard to check out the s/s 2008 collection from These Three Things - the fashion/art brainchild of Zoe and Quinn. Each season, they create a multi-functional garment that can be worn in a variety of ways. This time, they created a take on the skort. As we walked into the loft where the party was held, carefully stepping over the two little girls lying on the floor while giggling and pretending to stab themselves with joke knives, we started to realize that this was not going to be an ordinary fashion presentation. After being offered freshly popped stove-top popcorn and 3-D glasses and admiring the decorative zootropes scattered around the apartment, we tracked down Zoe and Quinn to learn more. "It's really more of an interactive presentation," explained Quinn, as she reached over and grabbed an oddly-shaped piece of fabric. "This is a skort. You can wear it with the shorts part in the front, or in the back," she announced, beaming. Then, Zoe put on the garment. She twisted, folded, made some bows....and voila. She was wearing an adorable jumper! We then watched as a baker's dozen artsy girls modeled the garment, each styling it in her own way. And they all looked great. No wonder each collection flies off the shelves at NYC boutiques like Caravan, Dernier Cri, and Armoire! --ALISON COOL
