Would You Wear

Would You Wear A Hat Inside?

rihanna.jpg
We just got this photo of Rihanna, who’s rocking her high-waisted Grey Ant jeans with an explosive corset top… and a beret.

We love Rihanna’s style - and her gorgeous Teen Vogue spread - but we have to wonder:

Why is she wearing a beret if she’s performing indoors?

Clearly it’s not too cold out, since she’s showing more skin on top than a Hawaiian Tropics fan. And yet, the fuzzy hat remains. We think it’s really cute with her makeup, her jeans, and her personal style.

But is it okay to throw function completely out the window, and wear a fashionable hat inside?

Or does that immediately make it a try-too-hard situation?

We’re still debating…

yea, of course hats are fine inside. it's just a beret, not sunglasses at night or a skiing vest in the middle of july.

i think the hat inside is just fine. i love this kind of beret, even though i usually wear it when im going outside. actually, i feel like the whole outfit is trying a little too hard. and the jeans seem unflattering because she is so curvy. she's gorgeous and talented so you'd think that she could go with something a little less trying-to-be-trendy. just my opinion.

i agree, i think hats are just fine indoors, but i'm disappointed with this version...rihanna is usually so spot on with her clothing. i think she over did it. i would've taken off the necklace. too much going on at the décolletage/face with the green piping, hat AND necklace. overall, trying to fit too many trends in one outfit.

hats inside are a definate DO - as long as they are a cohesive part of the outfit!

Love the hat just not with that outfit. I agree that she may be trying to hard. But, she is super cute and can get away with it.

The hat is the least objectionable part of her outfit.

maybe the hat is to distract you from those pants. Ther are unflattering on her. High waisted bottoms should be for super skinny people only.

When I'm wearing a beret, I always keep it on, indoors or outdoors. Other kinds of hats, perhaps not. Rihanna's hat doesn't match up with her outfit, though, so I say that this style fails.

ok, something about this whole outfit isn't right. maybe if it was a different top, a long loose t-shirt, with one shoulder showing, a la flashdance... maybe... just maybe it would work.

hats inside are fine. but this is... well, it's just not right.

"High waisted bottoms should be for super skinny people only."

No, they're for women with a discernable waist-to-hip ratio. Which Ms. Ri has in spades. Shame that she's rockin it sans pieds (tm GFY).

my favorite part of her outfit is the hat. it looks really cute with her bangs and always stellar eye makeup. i think she'd look much better here with a simple tee. then the focus would be up on her pretty face rather than down to a rather silly looking (in my opinion) ensemble.

wider leg on the jeans with an appropriate hem, a more casual top with a different neckline and cute platforms and she is all set

so the hat indoors. it perfectly fine. i do it all the time and get tons of compliments. the yellow polish is a negative for me. i am looking and think maybe green would have been better so it accents on the top. i, personally dont like the high wait bottoms, PERIOD. but the wide leg super long is a GO for me. the top is kinda blah.... but to just answer the question that was asked. HATS INSIDE ARE GREAT!!!

Did someone get paid to style this disaster? The pants are TOO LONG -- they're touching the floor and completely covering her toe -- tacky and a definite tripping hazard. I just think this collection doesn't work together -- looks like thrift-store thrown together. Too many colors and textures. A smart trilby cocked over one eye would be sexier and better-suited to an indoor-event than the knitted tam. Get a new stylist Rihanna -- this one is practising on you.

I wear hats indoors all the time, usually to cover up bad hair days... and sometimes just cos I can. The idea of not being able to wear hats inside, is like saying we should leave our handbags (another ''practical accessory'') at the door with our umbrellas.
But we all know we buy handbags not just to carry our things around, as they have to look good whilst doing so... same rule should apply to hats!

In Rhinanas case, the hat is casual, and would be appropriate if the jeans and shirt combo were fashionable casual... Not ill fitting. The corset is way too much... I would think she would wear that at night to a party (with low rise blue jeans - of course).

Sometimes hats inside are acceptable, but in this case, its a fashion no no.
