Bang Bang

Alison asked this morning if Katie Holmes wanted to look more like Christina Ricci.

After all, her new and very severe haircut is so very goth, it adds a good 10 years to the well-married movie star.

We think it’s more of a nod to Anna Wintour, but there is a small goth connection:

Katie’s arched eyes and deep, shiny hair looks an awful lot like our favorite tantrum teen, Emily the Strange.

With her glowering appeal and her “don’t-touch-me” stance, Emily’s entire being seems to be Katie’s subtle subtext - unless you’ve actually started to believe she’s totally in love with her life, in which case, well, it’s just a very chic haircut.

Regardless of who she is trying to look like, I think the new cut is amazing.

I think she looks a lot older with this hair and it's really not as cute as the other look. Perhaps it's the heavy make-up that adds to it for me. But I preferred the other hair cut so much more.

I always am a little annoyed when I see Katie Holmes. I miss her pre-Tom Cruise girl next door thing. She is 28! She has really good publicists and stylists, to help us all forget she is 28, and Tom Cruise is 45.

Homegirl looks Okay...but meh. Lets hope she divorces Tcruise, hits up Rachel Zoe and gets extensions! And a tan!

I love the new cut and I don't think she looks old. I love that she's trying new things. She looks like she's loving life and having fun with fashion.

if the make-up was more demure,
then maybe it would have looked less extreme
i'm tempted to make a "she's copying victoria beckham" type comment, but I won't since the angular banged bob is very big right now and "everyone" is doing it.

but why, oh why, is she wearing that bolero?
why.
why!
if it were different make-up and a feminine soft dress a la Prada sans bolero- it would have made a huge difference. maybe no one would have even noticed the cut!

I think it looks cute, but it could get old quickly.

I think that this haircut is a big improvement from the soccermom bob she's been wearing. I think that this style is much more age appropriate and definitely more glam.
