Bangs Are Like Puppies?

kate moss with bangs.jpgThe U.K. Daily Mail continues to obsess over their tortured relationship with bangs. Ever since Kate Moss got out the scissors, British women have been indulging in an ongoing, irresolvable debate: bangs or no bangs? What looks better?

We love this apt comparison where bangs (or as they call it, a “fringe”) are portrayed as “like irritating small dogs. They seem like a good idea at the time, but you sometimes wish you didn’t have one.”

“You can’t do much with it, it requires constant attention, and you’re forever having to play with it. “

Meanwhile, stars with stylists but maybe not style have started infringing on fringe territory. Penelope Cruz and Maggie Gyllenhaal recently jumped on the bang bandwagon, all because Kate’s bangs have gotten more publicity than her cocaine scandal.

Do you obsess over bangs too? Do you wish you could go for it, but fear and horror hold you back? Or did you go down the thick bangs path and instantly regret it?

I actually had them, and then let them grow out. But then, this past sunday, after a glass of wine and seeing the cute girl from Brothers and Sisters with bangs, I walked in my bathroom and chopped them off again! I really like them this time.....so far!
I just have long boring hair, and bangs are the safest bet in changing my look every now and then.

I've had them for almost three years now. First long, side-swept. Then long, face-framing (i.e. david cassidy, haha), my stylist kept cutting them shorter and shorter over the past six months until they were an inch above my brows, like half of the pseudo indie rock hipsters on the streets of Austin, and I finally had had enough. Now they are in the growing out stage, just below my brows, and I can't wait to be rid of them. EVERY single chick I see has bangs now, and I'm pissed off that I look like everyone else.

I've had Irina L. bangs since the beginning of September, and they definitely irriate me sometimes. I've gotten a million compliments on them though, so it that kind of makes up for it :-P

I used to have sideswept bangs, but I never knew how to style them properly and so I would just let them hang on the side of my face. This summer when I was getting my hair cut I just told the stylist to cut them straight across and I love them. It adds a little extra something to my hair and if I don't feel like dealing with them for the day I just throw a headband up. Overall I think it was a good decision.

I had longs ones for a while, but decided to get rid of them when I grew my hair from a pixie cut to a bob. Then, last week, after telling my stylist he could do whatever he wanted, I have short bangs with a bob.

I was kind of freaked out when I saw the, because I thought baby bangs were a little too hispter/Bettie Page, but now that they've grown out a bit, they're pretty cute and really make my eyes stand out. However, I had to start wearing either eyeliner or red lipstick every day so I don't look like a little French orphan girl.

shit i just wrote 3 paragraphs for nothing!
anyhow 2 sum myself up.. i ve had a 60s fringe for the past 3 years (liek sienna in alfie, or brigitte bardot back in the days) and i always loved it but at times i just wanna tie my hair back and look sleek and pretty without a chidlish fringe. so my stragety has been 2 get a fringe and let it grow out for 6 months and then get it agian...

I cut really blunt mod bangs to go with my long straight hair. It was a hit and I loved it so much, I made that my trademark hair. Then I changed it to a shaggy mullet after a few years. Now I'm back to bangs with Irina looking hair. I love bangs though. Right now, it's long and vision impairing so I'm debating if I should grow it out or trim it. I feel so lost and uncool without my bangs.... hahah... I swear I'm not shallow, I just care.

I heart bangs - yes so many girls have them now (even some boys in Williamsburg) but they are unique to each different face & hair line. I think this is what keeps up the allure & mystique to each banged beauty.

it took me years to get the guts to get bangs, but i finally did and they actually flatter my face really well. and yeah, if they ever get annoying i just pin them back, no problem.

I've had bangs in some way, shape or form my entire life and I never get tired of them. I think I've tried every possible length, thickness and cut. They are part of who I am.

I got the Reese Witherspoon cut on a whim at the beginning of September. The bangs are a total pain in the behind to style (I've actually taken to keeping a spare flatiron in my desk drawer for humidity-related emergencies, how sad is that?), but I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair in my life. They mitigate my high forehead and draw attention to my eyes, which are my best feature. I plan on keeping them long after the trend fades.

I used to have side swept bangs, but I have this annoying colick in the middle of them, so they always looked weird. Ive been lusting after Irina style bangs for a while, but I'm too scared that they'll look weird to try it. My hair grows so slow that every cut is a huge commitment.

I just got my hair cut expecting my bangs to be trimmed but now they are longer and shaggier. I think I may go back and get them trimmed to be sideswept again.
This weather (well when it's not raining) is so ideal for bangs.

I have bangs Irina style, I cutted them a week before Kate, and I was not too pleased to see that Kate decided to have a fringe also, because that meant that now I would see bangs everywhere here in London and I would look like a terrible fashion victim. Oh well...
But I just love them, although they grow faster than I could remember from my childhood days, I plan to keep this haircut for a long time.

I've had the Louise Brooks haircut (incl. shorty bangs) for about seven years now, and oh lord, if I'm ever tempted to grown them out, smack me. I cannot understand those who say that bangs are high-maintenance: I wash, air-dry, and comb. That's all.
I plan to keep this haircut well into my sixties, if not beyond.

i love bangs but i just don't know what kinds are best for me.
im also kind of scared by them because i remember my first haircut was in 7th grade (i know how sad) and i got thick bangs not knowing what was going on. They looked horrible!
But know i'm going in for a haircut and i'm asking myself
to bang or not to bang?

With my high forehead, I don't really have a choice. I've had bangs all my life. But if I didn't have to, I'd get rid of them in a second. I'm sick of the constant styling, which never lasts. Plus my hair grows really quick, so I need constant trimming.

But I love the bangs on Kate Moss.

I have blunt, straight across bangs and I love them so so so so much. I get hit on a lot more since I cut them, too.

i cut mine a few months back, after a bande a part OD. anna karina is love. it's kinda a pain, especially as my fringe needs washing a day before the rest of it. couldn't go back now though... like others said, high forehead! i was never as comfortable with my face before i cut my fringe. i can push it to the side though, and it looks totally different. or i can do 1950s rolls with it. no regrets. it's just irritating having to trim it every few days [and keep it neat-but-not-too-neat - otherwise it goes into ugly betty territory - especially as i have geek-rim glasses. aaaagh.]

I would love to have Irina bangs, but I'm too scared to cut my hair that much. I have a really short attention span. But I would love to get fake bangs like they had on the Fashionista Diaries.
