I have no idea if he moved, but Tim + Carrie Bradshaw's brownstone is in the West Village.

They said on the show that she lived in the east 70's, but it's pretty well known that the stoop they used for filming is in the W. Village, as it was closer to SJP's actual residence.

actually, doesn't Tim Gunn lives in the London Terrace towers, in Chelsea? fairly sure that does not look anything like the apartment on SATC.

The brownstone is in the west village, I have family on the street and the sex and the city tour always comes by on saturday mornings...
