Teenage Mutant Ninja Clothes: Should Boys Wear Turtlenecks?

With 70s styles emerging as the go-to look for stylish boys this fall, we’re starting to wonder if the male turtleneck – that staple of 1970s American college campus style – is also going to make a comeback.
We love the way girls are layering shrunken turtlenecks under dresses and jumpers this fall, but is this a piece of clothing with gender cross-over appeal?
Turtleneck sweaters have never disappeared from the pages of J.Crew and L.L. Bean catalogs, and Ralph Lauren loves to put male models in chunky knit turtlenecks. More recently, we spotted turtle styles on the boys on Versace’s Fall 07 runway.
But will hip city boys embrace the preppy, slightly professorial style of the turtleneck? And perhaps more importantly, should they?

My husband wears knit turtlenecks all the time. I love them; they look super chic on him. They’re my favorite thing in his closet.
